Could memory healing help you?

coping skills getting unstuck self care May 12, 2020

Have you ever been embarrassed?

Not just embarrassed.

Mortified.

That - DEAR GOD... HIDE ME NOW - feeling.

When you make that foot-in-mouth faux pax that makes you want to shrink back into yourself so far that… pop!

You magically disappear.

Who am I kidding… we’ve all been there.

Those huge embarrassments, they’re memories, sure, but man, they can feel just like real life again when you really think about them.

Am I right?

You can have that same PLAIN AS DAY experience thinking about scary memories, disgusting memories, regretful memories, wistful memories… and even memories of seemingly irrelevant experiences that actually hold more meaning hidden in there than you’d initially think.

(Why do I keep thinking about that day I was shopping for Hawaiian rolls when I was twenty-seven?)

These memories can be so powerful it can feel like you’re back there again, re-living that experience.

Okay, shake it off, shake it off.

Come back to the present moment.

I bring these memories up not to squarely plant you back in the humiliation hell of seventh-grade math (for example), but because I feel like so many people could massively benefit from memory healing and they don’t even know it exists.

One of the main reasons I started down the path of alternative healing was because I was tired of cringing over and over when I thought about memories from my past.

THERE WERE SO MANY.

And frankly I am so sensitive that the memories were exhausting me.

I couldn’t get away from them.

I didn't want to talk about them.

I couldn't find a therapist that worked for me.

And I just wanted to feel BETTER already.

I know I’m not alone here.

I bet there are at least five memories that make you cringe with some mix of uncomfortable feelings without even really having to think about it.

DON’T THINK ABOUT IT.

Just trust me.

We all have cringe-worthy memories.

Memory healing is a way to travel back in time, as it were, and help the younger version of yourself to make a different choice in that situation.

It’s literally a replay of a situation where you didn’t have the power (means, information, etc.) to respond in a way that would have made the situation not-as-terrible or actually not bad at all.

When you take the emotional charge out of the situation and then rework the memory so that you can direct the outcome to look differently?

OMG.

You feel like a new person.

You'd be surprised how much of a toll stressful memories can have on your entire nervous system.

That’s a super rough sketch of how the process works.

It’s more complicated and situation-specific than that, but you get the idea.

Here’s the most amazing part of doing this process though.

We do it in such a way that you don’t get re-traumatized. <<<<<< that’s HUGE.

HUGE.

I’ve been through some stuff y’all.

And I did NOT want to revisit and re-experience any of those memories thankyouverymuch.

Memory healing is such a good way to come at the memory from the side, keep it at a distance, and work on the emotional charge around it in increments.

And you can usually address simple jarring memories within the space of an hour.

What does memory healing ultimately do?

It’s the mental and emotional resolution of a traumatic experience.

When I do memory healing work, I prefer to work on small-t traumas and suggest that clients take the big-T traumas to a therapist who does EMDR first.

Then — depending on the situation — I suggest that the client continue to work with a therapist and then also with me to address the big-T trauma memory in a slow and controlled manner.

But you don't need a big-T trauma to get the benefits of doing this process.

And yes, that hugely embarrassing incident with your period when you were thirteen?

That was most likely very traumatic to your thirteen year old self.

That glare from a condescending adult when you were ten?

Traumatic.

That awkward Sadie Hawkins moment in high school?

Traumatic.

If it makes you cringe when you remember it?

It’s probably at least partially traumatic.

How does memory healing dovetail into my work as a psychic medium?

Well. It turns out no one has a perfect childhood.

When I’m channeling, people will often share hardships related to the loss of a loved one, an estranged or difficult relationship with a family member who's crossed over, or a memory of regret that still sits like a burden on their shoulders.

Channeling is one form of healing.

Memory healing is definitely another.

They work in concert.

Some people will never come to me for a reading, but they'll want to clear out the guck of some old memories.

And conversely, some people will only seek me out for readings.

Doing both is how I keep helping as many people as I can.

So, is memory healing right for you?

Here’s who I’ve noticed it really helps:

  • People who’ve suffered a physical injury and no matter what they try, their symptoms are still not resolving.

  • People who are focused on self-healing and self-care and want to reach another level of feeling good.

  • People who are tired of carrying around old cringe-worthy memories and want to feel FREE and light.

  • People who are suffering from chronic illness and are looking for alternative ways to heal.

Depending on your situation and what you’ve been through, one session can be enough to address the memories you want to be free of.

Or if you really want to clean out the closet of your mind, a series of sessions would be smart.

I’ve spent hours and hours going through my life to address memories that hold me back or make me feel awful.

It's an ongoing process because things happen!

At this point, I don’t really think about most of those memories that used to emotionally tear me in two from childhood, because they don't carry a charge, they're not begging for resolution and now that I've worked on them, I see them in a new light.

In reducing the emotions around them, I’ve gained perspective.

I've found that this process is different than talking about the issue over and over.

Or just giving it time.

A tough memory doesn't seem to fade with time.

I’m happy to tell you my personal experience as well as some of the experiences of my clients.

It could be the best thing you ever did for yourself.

Okay… that’s all for this week!

Oh real quick!

The second psychic medium group is FULL.

If you want to get on the waiting list for the next group, email me now.

I already have a couple of people on the waiting list.

I did a private group reading for four people who knew each other and it was AWESOME.

If you’re interested in that option, let me know.

I’m LOVING doing groups. More to come!

Sending you big hugs and big smiles,
