Is your soul aching for a better life?
Apr 07, 2025
Hey there loved one,
You know those movies where you meet the main character and she’s living a life that just is not right for her?
You can see plainly that she’s stuck…
She’s gritting her teeth, pushing hard and exhaustedly getting through the day…
Or she’s vacant-eyed, depressed and wearily putting one foot in front of the other…
Either way, she reaches an ENOUGH IS ENOUGH point and something sparks in her…
Maybe it’s a two week getaway to another country.
Maybe she goes back to school and learns a new skill set.
Maybe she starts a new hobby like dancing or soccer and her whole world starts to open up.
Either way, there is a TRANSITION POINT where she goes from blahhhhhh to WOWWWW.
I am obsessed with these movies.
It’s not just because they represent the traditional before and after transformation that most of us love to witness – all typed up nicely in a bow.
It’s not just because it’s inspiring to see someone overcome difficulty and get to be the observer of how they did it, step-by-step from the outside.
It’s not just because I’m a coach and mentor and teacher and I love watching people change their lives - even in fictional form.
No.
It’s because, even in fictional form, even when someone is acting, I get to witness the spark of spirit in someone’s eyes.
I get to marvel at someone following what their true self, what their soul truly wants to do.
It’s a mystical experience.
So what about you?
Do you feel like the before picture in these movies?
Stuck and inspired and just getting through the day?
Well I’m gonna give you a coaching secret… it’s the first step to becoming the after version of your life.
For a moment, I want you to think about one thing, just one thing that you’ve been quietly wanting to try.
It can be anything SO LONG AS you have a deep internal aching to do this thing.
Learning to cook really good ramen.
Trying snowboarding.
Learning to play chess.
Making sourdough bread.
Renovating your bathroom.
Traveling around the world.
Like I said, it can be anything but it’s not a should and not a to-do.
It’s a desire and it may not even make sense. In fact, the things your soul wants to do often do not make any sense—which is why we can ignore these longings for years.
Now.
Here’s the first step to shifting more towards what your soul wants:
(Ironically it has a few steps…)
- Take out a piece of paper and draw yourself (stick figure is perfect) grinning wildly on one side of the page
- On the other side of the page, draw a picture of that thing you want to do or learn (a snowboard, a chess board, a beautiful loaf of sourdough, you get the idea)
- Then draw a series of arrows like these <<<<<<< connecting that thing to your heart
- Draw stars above to indicate spirit’s involvement and then draw beams connecting both you and that desire to spirit.
- Write the date you’d like to materialize it by and then write “And so it is…”
- Complete it with gratitude like “Thank you…
Here’s an example I made about traveling around the world (a long time dream of mine):
Tape this paper to your bedside table and look at it every night before bed and every morning when you wake up.
Just look at it and smile.
That’s the first step.
You can do this. It’s fun! And it’ll take five minutes.
Until next week,
Rebecca*
