How to rewire your doom and gloom thoughts

Oct 14, 2020

Hey, doll.

I don't know about you, but my loved ones and I have been having a lot of stressful dreams as we get closer to the election.

Not super fun.

And it's not just nightmares that we've been experiencing, but big swells of fear-based visions during our waking times.

COOL COOL.

Replaying negative visions is not only hard on your nervous system, but it's not great for manifesting the kind of world you want to be living in.

You ever have bad "prophetic" visions pop into your head? You're watching a kid play on the playground and you suddenly envisioning them falling off and getting really hurt?

*shudder*

Look. These are 99.9% just fears (I promise), and it's up to YOU to change that image immediately.

What starts out as fear, if replayed over and over and over again in your mind, can become a manifestation.

So it's really smart to know how to control your thoughts and insert a new positive vision or thought.

Here are the five ways I suggest:

1. Mentally delete the scary vision.

When I was going through cancer treatment, I had a LOT of scary images invade my mind. I learned back then to put a big red X over whatever image I was seeing and mentally imagine myself hitting the delete button on the computer in my mind. Then I watched it as the image bloop! disappeared. I even say "Delete! Delete!" when I do it just so that my mind, body, soul, and the Universe all know that I'm not looking to manifest that image into reality.

2. Crumple up the image.

Again, this is another visual thing you can do mentally. Personally, I love seeing a scary image get crunched up in my mind and then thrown over my shoulder into the wastebasket. I listen for the sound of the paper crumpling as I do it too. Then if the image is stubborn and keeps coming back, I just crumple it again and again until it disappears.

3. If it's an auditory negative thought and not an image, squash it like a bug mid-phrase.

I am not someone who kills bugs. I don't like that. It doesn't feel good to me. But this is one kind of bug I will squash. If you hear yourself saying something critical or fear-based, mentally imagine yourself squashing that thought with your shoe. Just CUT OFF THE VOICE mid-phrase. Then immediately say the opposite in your mind. Repeat as often as necessary.

4. Bubble the person or event or situation with Divine Light.

I do this ALL. THE. TIME. When I hear that anyone is going through a hard time, when I find out that someone is about to do something I consider dangerous, when I see a conflict taking place, I immediately surround all involved parties with Divine Light. I say it out loud "Protected by Divine Light", and then I imagine an orb of iridescent light around them. And I exhale... If you tend to be a worrier, get into the practice of replacing your worries with this practice of mental protection and love.

5. Be a beacon of light.

This is a next-level practice—I know you can do it. When everyone around you is hemming and hawing and wringing their hands, YOU be the one to envision how the situation could work out. YOU be the one to quietly and mentally hold space (using the techniques above) for the situation to end in the highest good. YOU be the one to stand in hope and possibility instead of negativity and fear. I'm not suggesting toxic positivity and denial here, but I am suggesting calm, grounded, wisdom, and light. You can do this.

We need more beacons of light.

Okay, sweetie, those are my steps for getting out of the doom and gloom headspace it's so easy to fall into right now. Please start using one or more of these tips immediately (for the election and also, life), and you'll see your anxiety start to wane.

We can not control much in this world, but we can train ourselves to control our thoughts and how we let them affect us.

Okay?

Okay.

Huggggggg.

Be good to yourself,

Rebecca*
