How to connect with spirit through the Olympics
Aug 01, 2024Hello lovey,
I’ve been watching the Olympics this past week and it got me thinking about how spirit moves through us in different ways.
Now I’m not going to share any spoilers (so if you haven’t watched anything yet, breathe easy), but I wanted to talk about the magic of humans coming together.
I grew up as an athlete. I was a competitive synchronized swimmer (now called artistic swimming) for most of my childhood and then I played club water polo and club rugby in college.
I was—BY NO MEANS—an Olympic caliber athlete.
But I remember the feeling of being in a competition and the energy in that space, especially when we were winning or when things were close.
Watching the Olympics brings me right back to that feeling.
Now that I’m older I realize that it’s spirit moving through everything in that competitive space.
Especially in global games like the Olympics where the world is watching and countries are coming together to experience excellence and success through hard work and often hardship.
I’m teaching the final week of my Spiritual Meditation for Beginners right now and wow—it’s been incredible to teach and to watch the participants open up intuitively in such a short time!
This week we’re focusing on the crown chakra.
The crown chakra is located at the top of the head and it is the gateway to divine connection.
When that chakra is blocked, our sense of unity is diminished.
Cynicism, isolation, depression, individualism and skepticism can run high.
However, when the crown chakra is open, spinning beautifully, and balanced, then you experience a sense of wonder, joy, and unity.
You understand that we are all connected: humans, animals, plants, oceans… all of it.
When I watch the Olympics, this big planet with all our beautiful differences starts to meld together into one big family for me.
When I see athletes triumph in a skill they’ve been mastering for YEARS, when I see their teammates and coaches and families and friends JUMP up and down in celebration of them and what they’ve accomplished, I feel it.
Can you feel it?
I truly believe that that’s spirit.
It doesn’t matter who wins; it really doesn’t.
It’s in the process of coming together that you can feel the energy of belief, support, encouragement, care, kindness, gratitude, appreciation, love and wonder that fills these games.
And it’s these feelings that remind me that spirit is everywhere.
I hope you get a chance to watch these athletes do incredible and seemingly impossible things, not only to feel that sense that spirit is connecting all of us, but to be in the energy of watching others fully live out their dreams and potential.
Because spirit is there waiting for you too.
Until next week,
Rebecca*
