How can you tell a high from a low vibe?
Feb 03, 2025
Hello love bug,
A few weeks ago in the Facebook group, someone asked a great question:
"How do you distinguish between high vibe and low vibe energy?
SUCH a good question!
I realized in that moment that everyone doesn't walk around feeling the energy of a person, place or thing—like I do.
(Psh. Hello blind spot!)
For me, feeling energy can be subtle or it can feel like it hits you in the face.
I'll use places for example.
Have you ever walked into a space that felt chaotic?
It could be messy or loud with laundry piled high and dishes all over the counter and on the sink.
A TV is blaring in the background.
Trash overflowing.
A barky dog running around.
The energy of that place can feel unsettled, unattended to, depressed or neglected.
It can make you feel heavy or like you're overwhelmed.
That's a low vibe.
Now imagine walking into a place that feels peaceful.
It's organized, warm and inviting.
Things feel clean, but not perfect.
There are plants and art and books and mugs for tea.
There's sunlight and gentle music playing.
It smells good.
That's a high vibe.
These are the examples I use from my experience.
Your experience of low and high vibe may be different.
I have been in very clean and organized space with all the markings of high vibe, but it didn't feel good.
The energy of the people living there felt off—often because they weren't living in alignment.
I get the sense of someone's vibe when I meet them as well.
Do they feel grounded? Do they feel warm? Do they feel like they're living from their heart center?
Does this person make my nervous system feel calm or unsafe?
One feels like a high vibe and one feels like a low vibe.
So the way you begin to make sense of this is to come out of auto-pilot and start paying attention.
In the simplest terms:
What spaces make you feel good?
What space make you feel bad?
What people make you feel good and which ones make you feel bad?
What activities? What social media accounts? What TV shows? What movies? What music?
If you start to feel heavy, bogged down, depleted or drained, that's a low vibe.
If you start to feel lighter, lifted, filled up or delighted, that's a high vibe.
Move towards the high vibe and away from the low vibe.
Everything in your life will feel better when you do.
Another way to distinguish between high and low vibe is through meditation.
When you go inward on a daily basis, you begin to know yourself better.
When you know yourself better, you will be better able to reflect on what does and doesn't feel good.
